  • Good news for companies with a substantial. TCP/IP wide area network in place. Retix X.400 MTAs can now connect using TCP/IP protocols, not just ISO TP 0, 2, and 4 Sadly, Macintosh and DOS e-mail package InBox is finished. Its main competitor CE Software bought the rights to the product, and plans to migrate users over to QuickMail
  • JetForm, a leading forms routing package, now runs with MS Mail.
  • NetSwitch hung out its shingle as an alternative to Soft•Switch and Retix. It’s an X.400 MTA running on a PC, with MHS, PROFS, and Office Vision gateways. Cheaper than Soft•Switch, and unlike Retix has PROFS and Office Vision gateways
  • Microsoft ships Schedule+ for Windows, a calendaring and scheduling package. Initially the product requires MS Mail/PC
  • Microsoft ships MS Mail/PC v3.0. The main new features include automatic directory synchronization, growing transport independence of the Windows client, and improvements to Windows and PM clients
  • The upcoming EMA conference in San Francisco should be exciting. Its stature is now sufficient to have the heads of major software firms lining up to make presentations
