PIM/Messaging is the Main Purchase Driver for Business Mobile Handhelds, Not Applications

A wirelessly-connected handheld device has two major business benefits that stand out:

  • It can connect to the office messaging system. So you can keep current with emails, new calendar events, and so on
  • It can provide access to production systems, typically through a web browser. Eg you can get into sales or shipping systems through the device

Which is the driver for mobile messaging devices?

In about 70% of new sales, messaging is the main driver. Other applications hover in the back of purchasers' minds. In about 30% of cases, production applications come first, with messaging secondary.
