Distribution List Issues for Regulations Compliance, Corporate Data Mining

Information about distribution lists are about to become important for regulations compliance and corporate data mining purposes.

Some of the issues that come to mind are:

  • Fancy features associated with DLs (e.g., controls on who can sent)
  • Archiving who joined/left list when
  • Being able to find messages sent to a DL in an archive
  • Easy user access to old DL messages by list members and perhaps others (e.g., through an archive in a shared folder)
  • Audit tracking of messages sent to DLs (verification of DL members receiving messages, and then when messages were read)
  • Ability to search DL archives, based on keyworks, subjects, discussion threads etc.
