On October 14, Computer Associates acquired email archiving vendor iLumin. This makes business sense for CA:
- Its storage offerings need the application-specific functionality of email archiving.
- Major competitors have email archiving solutions. Symantec bought KVS; EMC bought Legato.
CA paid $47.7 million in an all-cash deal. We don’t have all the inside information but this would seem to be a good deal for CA shareholders.
