Panda Software: Quiet, but Among the Top 5 in Intrusion Prevention

You might not have even heard of Panda Software. Despite its low profile in the North American market, we think Panda is among the top 5 in the IDS/IPS (intrusion detection and intrusion prevention system) market worldwide. Its revenues in 2004 were $104 million, and it expects to have grown at around 40% when it closes the books on 2005.

Panda’s latest offering is TruPrevent, which it markets as a host-based IPS–that is, anti-malware software that runs on clients and servers.

(Panda is based in Bilbao, Spain, also home to Frank Gehry’s impressive titanium, glass, and limestone Guggenheim Museum. Worth a visit if you’re ever on the west side of the Spanish/French border, and makes a change from Barcelona.)
