Single Multi-User Computer Email

During the first phase of email, from 1965 to about 1972, email is predominantly based on a single computer that supports many different users. Here, users of that single computer can send email to each other.

Users are primarily students and researchers in university computer science departments in the US. There are also a number of research-oriented military organisations.–Nigel Dutt & David Ferris
