When will Exchange support SPF/SenderID?

An observation: although Hotmail and MSN now examine SPF records as part of their spam scoring for incoming email, Exchange still does not.

The obvious place to put this feature would be in the Intelligent Message Filter add-on (IMF). Or is it? There's also the rather nebulous "Edge Services" platform to consider. Microsoft is officially tight-lipped on Edge, but is hinting that they'll have more to say very soon. However, if this article is to be believed, Edge has been delayed until 2006.

Surely Microsoft will roll out a SPF/SenderID update to IMF soon? The Lotus community's scorn over the Exchange roadmap isn't entirely justified, but it seems to be getting louder by the day.

I’m curious on what basis you say that the “scorn over the Exchange roadmap isn’t entirely justified”.

I’m also curious why our scorn isn’t justified.

For a couple of years, Microsoft’s anti-Domino/Notes marketing was composed entirely of lies and FUD around a “lack of roadmap” for the products, and rumours that they would be replaced with painful and expensive upgrades to Workplace.

(Whilst Microsoft was trying to get customers to go through painful and expensive upgrades to Active Directory and Exchange 2000, which makes it rather cheeky!)

IBM finally got tough and committed publically to future versions. They took their roadmaps and pushed them aggressively to the public, removing almost all doubt.

And as IBM got tough with their roadmaps, Microsoft’s went all over the place. Kodiak shifted further back, then was cancelled. But Edge Services appeared in Kodiak’s place. And was cancelled, or delayed, depending on who at Microsoft you’re talking about.

By any mark, Microsoft – kings of vapourware, with roadmaps that traditionally looked very far ahead – have completely dropped the ball here.

Sorry, but the scorn seems fairly justified to me.
