Direct Push Comes to Palm OS Treos

Palm has announced that Microsoft’s Direct Push technology is available for its Treo 680 and Treo 700p Smartphones.

While Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync has long been supported, Direct Push -– one of Microsoft’s key technologies to compete with Research In Motion’s BlackBerry devices –- will provide rapid and automatic wireless updates of email, calendar, and contact data for enterprises using Exchange 2003 SP2 or higher, or those who have made the leap to Exchange 2007.

While a nice addition, it’s unlikely that Direct Push alone will do much to turn around the struggling Palm OS.
