Marshal launched MailMarshal Service Provider Edition. The content control software is available now. Marshal thinks key features include:
- Customer self-provisioning. The service provider can decide, customer by customer, the level of control to be delegated.
- High levels of policy definition control.
- Good scalability. Just a matter of racking up commodity Windows machines.
- Internally, the appliance runs a hardened version of Windows rather than Linux.
This is an early solution for service providers. Today, most service providers who want to provide a content control solution do so by cobbling together a custom offering. They integrate elements from third parties; for example, taking the spam control from Cloudmark or Commtouch.
