IM threats are still far less frequent than some security vendors make them out to be.
This is a suspiciously-carefully-worded press release. It seems odd to lump IM threats with those delivered over P2P networks. I can’t help but suspect that the majority of the threats referred to here are Trojans masquerading as shared media files being unwittingly downloaded over Bittorrent, Kazaa, and the like.
