Attendee Breakdown. There were about 550 paying
attendees at the conference; .i.e people who've paid to attend the sessions rather
than exhibitor staff, etc.
The show is pitched at both Windows administrators and Exchange Administrators. Exchange is the main draw. We found about 75% to 80% came mainly because of Exchange. So this event pulls around 450 Exchange support staff. In terms of size breakdown:
The Microsoft Exchange Conference (old "MEC") had gradually declining numbers. As a result, Microsoft folded it into TechEd. Clearly, this show (Exchange Connections) proves there's still a need for a focused Exchange conference. Most pure Windows folk won't come here; they mostly go to TechEd.
From the exhibitor standpoint, this is a good place to be in front of Exchange administrators. Overall, TechEd will get you a large Exchange audience, but of course it's less focused on messaging ... David Ferris and Lee Benjamin
